Looking for something offbeat, unique, and loaded with character? Meet the BJ60 Mountain Banjo, a striking blend of tradition and innovation. Designed for musicians who crave a distinctive sound and style, this banjo pairs vintage-inspired craftsmanship with a humbucker pickup for amplified versatility. Whether you're jamming in the hills or rocking out on stage, this mountain banjo promises a warm, woody tone with the punchy power of modern electronics.

Who Will Love the BJ60 Mountain Banjo?

This banjo is tailor-made for players who appreciate the beauty of raw, natural tones and the craftsmanship of early folk instruments. If you’re a musician who enjoys blending genres—from bluegrass and folk to indie and alternative rock—this banjo is for you. With its built-in humbucker pickup, it’s perfect for amplified performances and experimenting with effects, making it a great choice for live performers, studio artists, or anyone who loves to push boundaries.

Whether you're a beginner eager to explore the world of banjos or a seasoned player looking for something truly special, the BJ60 delivers a playing experience that feels timeless yet modern.

A Brief History of Mountain Banjos

The mountain banjo has its roots in the Appalachian Mountains, where early American settlers, often with limited resources, crafted their own instruments. Unlike standard open-back or resonator banjos, early mountain banjos featured solid wooden bodies, giving them a distinct look and a quieter, mellow tone. They became a staple of Appalachian folk music, celebrated for their simplicity and DIY charm.

Over time, the mountain banjo evolved, with luthiers incorporating various materials and designs to enhance both its durability and tone. The BJ60 stays true to this heritage while adding modern upgrades—like the double coordinator rods for stability and a built-in humbucker for dynamic performance flexibility.

Features & Benefits

Premium Materials for a Beautiful Tone

Resonator & Neck: Crafted from maple, known for its bright and clear tonal qualities, ensuring projection and clarity.

Fretboard & Bridge: Made with purpleheart, a dense hardwood prized for its durability and smooth feel, enhancing playability and sustain.
Modern Electronics for Versatile Performance

Equipped with a Rising P-3007 EQ and a humbucker pickup, this banjo allows you to switch seamlessly from unplugged folk sessions to amplified stage performances. Whether you're aiming for a natural acoustic vibe or an electrified edge, the BJ006 has you covered.

Built for Comfort & Playability

A 648mm scale length and a slim neck profile (22mm at the 1st fret, 23mm at the 9th fret) ensure a comfortable playing experience, even during long sessions.

The chrome tuners offer reliable tuning stability, while the double coordinator rods provide additional structural integrity, ensuring durability over time.

Elegant Gloss Finish

The entire banjo, from the rim to the resonator and neck, is coated in a high-quality gloss finish, adding a premium aesthetic and protecting the wood from environmental factors.

Why Choose the BJ60 Mountain Banjo?

Whether you’re a traditionalist who loves the charm of folk instruments or a boundary-pushing artist looking to experiment, the BJ006 offers something truly special. Its combination of heritage-inspired design, modern playability, and versatile electronics make it a banjo like no other.
