A Glimpse into Resonator History
Resonator guitars were originally designed in the 1920s to produce louder sound for early blues and bluegrass musicians before electric amplification was common. Traditionally, they featured a metal cone that resonated the sound, creating a bright, punchy tone perfect for slide playing. Over time, resonators evolved from pure acoustics into electrified hybrids like the RE20, blending the best of both worlds – the unmistakable twang and sustain of a resonator with the versatility and convenience of an electric guitar. This evolution has kept the resonator relevant, beloved by musicians who want a unique sonic texture that stands apart from standard guitars.
